About Miss Fitzgerald

About Miss Fitzgerald

Background

I grew up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. When I graduated high school, I attended Keene State College and earned a B.A. Art, Graphic Design. I worked for a couple years as a graphic designer for a company specializing in supplying artwork for trophies and awards. I realized that although I liked the creativity that job allowed, I wanted to be a teacher. So, I went back to graduate school, again at Keene State College, and earned a Master of Education in Elementary Ed.

Teaching Experience

I began teaching in New Hampshire as a kindergarten teacher. When that position was over, I moved to Houston, TX. There, I again taught kindergarten. Although the two schools were vastly different, I feel fortunate to have had such an experience. Missing my family, friends, and the northeast, I moved to New York. I took a job teaching 5th grade. Although this was a change from kindergarten, I adapted extremely well again. It was then that I realized I would enjoy teaching ANY grade level. I now am teaching 3rd grade at Pine Bush and am so excited to be a part of such a great school!

I feel that third grade is such an awesome grade to teach. I am always looking for ways to make learning fun.

What does Miss Fitzgerald do when she's not teaching?

I am a runner and am always looking for fun races to run. I ran the Chicago Marathon and will be running the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati this spring. In the winter I love to ski at Gore Mountain every weekend.

During summer vacation, I enjoy gardening and love to be outside as much as possible. Hiking is another activity I enjoy doing. I also love to catch up on reading during the summer.
